His name was George Floyd, he could not breathe, and he was murdered.
As the current situation progresses in the United States, we have decided to donate $50,000 to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund this summer 2020.
The NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund is the country's top legal firm fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, it seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve justice for all. NAACP also defends the gains and protections won over the past 75 years of civil rights struggle.
We are incredibly lucky to have a truly heartfelt community that supports us and now it is time to turn that support directly to the black folks who have been suffering injustice far too long in our nation. Our customers have given us the privilege of being able to donate $2 from each bottle of our limited-edition summer syrups directly back to the country’s first civil and human rights legal organization.
If you have the means, please consider donating to NAACP or Color of Change both of which are working to help people respond effectively to injustice in the world around us. In addition, Black Lives Matter has put together a list of ways to take action and help.
Black lives matter. Racism has no place in our communities, and it is up to those of us with power—from small to large—to put our privilege to good use to help amplify their struggle.
