Sugar Free Maple Walnut Truffles

Embrace the flavors of fall with this maple walnut truffle.

Make these keto friendly maple nut candies to celebrate the fall season. Made famous by See’s Candy™, these decadent truffles are sweet and a little nutty. We wanted to make a version without all that sugar, so we’ve created a copycat of the maple walnut truffle using our sugar free maple syrup. Simply whip up the maple buttercream, sprinkle in some chopped walnuts and cover with chocolate for a delicious maple walnut dessert.

If you want to make these maple candies as a homemade gift or a dessert to bring to Thanksgiving, it’s easy to decorate them to delight your friends and family. We like using sugar free milk chocolate chips melted down to create the chocolate coating, but you can also use white chocolate instead. Our keto white chocolate chips are special because they’re made with real cocoa butter, not sugar and milk like the other chocolate companies do. This makes it easy to dust with edible gold if you want to wow folks with your truffle making skills. You can also press the filling into a leaf mold to create a fall truffle that looks classic and sophisticated.

What’s the secret to the perfect maple buttercream? Buttercream inside of a truffle is not that different from buttercream frosting. If you whip it with some powdered sweetener, you’re able to start customizing the flavor. In this recipe, we add keto maple syrup and some chopped walnuts. This gives it a nutty flavor that goes great with chocolate.

How do I cover truffles in melted chocolate?

Truffles just wouldn’t be truffles without chocolate! If you’ve ever been to See’s Candy™ and thought it would be impossible to make cute truffles at home, think again! We roll our maple buttercream filling into a ball so they’re easy to dunk into melted chocolate. One great hack for covering truffles with chocolate is to stick a fork or a toothpick in the truffle and roll it around in the melted chocolate. This way you get an even coating and it looks great, too.

What’s in a buttercream truffle?

Buttercream truffles are a classic treat that you can make at home with a few ingredients. Simply beat butter and powdered sweetener together to create a fluffy truffle filling. We’re not stopping there, though, we’re adding our sugar free maple syrup to give it a fall vibe that can’t be missed. We also chop walnuts and add them into the buttercream as well. Once you get a sugar free buttercream recipe down, you can change the flavor for the season. Since these are fall truffles, we’re adding maple and walnuts. For other flavors, try birthday cake extract or our keto pumpkin spice flavoring syrup.

How can I make keto friendly candy at home?

Making keto friendly candy at home is easy and a lot of fun, too! If there’s a flavor you’re craving or you want to make a homemade gift for your family that’s actually tasty and healthy, making low carb truffles is a great idea. All you have to do is make a simple buttercream filling and roll it in chocolate. These keto truffles only take a few ingredients and taste like a keto copycat of See’s maple walnut chocolate truffles. Of course, if you don’t want to make your own candy, you can grab our keto hazelnut truffles.

How can I decorate truffles for Thanksgiving?

If you want to bring truffles as dessert to Thanksgiving or any other get together, decorating the truffles will really wow your friends. We suggest topping the truffles with a piece of chopped walnut. You can also use white chocolate for this recipe and dye it a festive color like orange or gold. Another great trick is to buy a small silicon chocolate mold. For fall, we like using a leaf mold or pumpkins!
